Current Position and what you do: Manager of Employment Services. My primary role as a manager is to provide my staff with guidance and support in assisting individuals with various work-limiting disabilities including, low or no vision, to find and keep work by utilizing assessments, coaching and training tools.
Proudest Professional accomplishment: One of my proudest professional accomplishments was promoting a colleague/direct hire to take my place as a supervisor, which meant a lot to me because, in the beginning, this person did not trust me. The unit had been without a leader for so long that this individual became cynical and lost hope in the service we provided. Eventually, I gained their trust in my leadership abilities, so when it was time for me to move on, I didn’t have a second thought about recommending them.
Describe your values and how they inform your career: As I moved through life and various careers, my values have changed. Yet, my core work values are, acceptance, humility, honesty and integrity have been consistent. Because of my innate desire to help others, relying on my core values keep me grounded. They allow me to be efficacious while aiding others be the best they can be by meeting them where they are.
Who are you outside of work: A Mom, Grandmother, an Entrepreneur and Budding Author.
